Terms
Terms
What you get, what it costs, when it arrives, who owns it afterwards, and what happens when something goes wrong. The prices and counts on this page are read from the pricing page, so the two cannot disagree.

Who these are between
These terms are between you, the client, and Thalos Design, a web design studio in London. They apply to every package and care plan bought from this studio, and paying for one is how you accept them.
They are written to be read once and understood. Where a sentence here is unclear, write to alex@thalosdesign.com and ask before you pay rather than after.

Revisions
A revision round is one consolidated set of changes, sent as one list. That matters more than the number does: three separate emails on three days, each asking for one change, is three rounds of work but it is the pattern that quietly consumes a package, so gather your notes and send them together.
Changes that go beyond the agreed scope, such as new pages or a different design direction after the design is approved, are quoted before they are done and never billed as a surprise. Nothing is ever charged without you agreeing to it in writing first.
The delivery clock
The delivery window starts when your content is complete and with us, which means the questionnaire submitted and your logo, photographs and details uploaded. It does not start when you pay.
This is not a way of avoiding a date. It is the only honest way to give one: a studio that starts the clock at payment is promising a date that depends on something it has not received. Once everything is with us, the date is fixed and it is held.
The clock stops when the site is live on your own domain. Time spent waiting for something from you pauses it, and we will tell you when that happens rather than letting a date slip quietly.
The Launch on-time credit
Launch carries a stated credit: if we miss the window, £50 / $70 / €45 comes off the price. It applies to Launch alone, and no other package or care plan carries it.
Its edges, so there is nothing to argue about later. The window is the one described above, running from content-complete to live on your own domain. It is not missed by delay caused by waiting for something from you, by a domain or hosting account we do not control not being ready in time, or by you asking for extra work mid-build that you and we agree in writing changes the scope.
Where it does apply, it applies without you having to ask. We work out the date, we notice, and the credit is refunded to the card that paid.
Payment
Packages are paid in full before the project starts. That is not merely policy: your private project link is created by the payment, so an unpaid project has no questionnaire to fill in and no page to open.
Payment is taken through Stripe, by a payment link sent to you. Paying it is how these terms are accepted, and the link says so.
Care plans are monthly, taken by Stripe subscription, and start on the day the first payment lands. Add-ons are quoted separately and paid the same way.
Care plans
A care plan is monthly work on a site that is already live. It is not a project and carries no delivery date. Cancel any time: tell us before the next monthly payment and there is no further charge, with no notice period and no cancellation fee. The month already paid for runs to its end.
Included edit time does not roll over from one month into the next. It is reserved capacity rather than a balance, and a month where nothing was needed is a month where nothing was needed.
Essential
£39 / $55 / €36 /month
Framework and dependency updates every month, with security patches applied the week they are published. Uptime checked, and 30 minutes of edits.
Standard
£69 / $95 / €65 /month
Everything in Essential, plus off-site backups you can be restored from, a watch on your domain and certificate expiry, two hours of content changes and a monthly analytics report.
Priority
£129 / $180 / €120 /month
Everything in Standard, plus same-day edits, a quarterly review of your headers, dependencies and who still has access, and first place in the queue, always.
Who owns the finished site
You do, once you have paid in full. The design, the pages, the code written for your project and the copy written for it transfer to you on full payment, and you may move the site, change it, or hand it to another studio without asking us.
Two honest limits. Third-party components stay under their own licences, which are the ordinary open-source ones and cost you nothing. Anything you gave us stays yours throughout: your logo, your photographs and your words were never ours.
The studio keeps the right to describe the work as its own, which is what a portfolio is.
Showing the work
We may show your finished site in the studio's portfolio, on this site and in the ordinary places a studio shows work: a screenshot, the name of the business, and a description of what was built.
If you would rather we did not, say so and we will not. There is no window on that and no form for it. Write to alex@thalosdesign.com at any point, before or after launch, and the work comes down. It costs you nothing and it changes nothing else about the job.
If a project goes quiet
Projects stall, usually because the content is harder to write than anybody expected. That is normal and it is not a problem until it is left unspoken.
So the rule is stated rather than improvised. If we are waiting on something from you and thirty days pass with no reply to two written requests, the project is paused. A paused project keeps everything: your payment, your materials, your questionnaire and your place. Nothing is deleted and nothing is refunded, because the work booked for you was held.
Restarting is one email, at any time within twelve months, and it costs nothing. We pick up where it stopped, and you get a new delivery date from the day your content is complete, because the original one described a run that did not happen.
After twelve months of silence the project is closed. Your materials are still yours and we will send them back on request. Restarting after that is a new booking at the price of the day.
Cancelling and refunds
Cancel before any design work has started and you get a full refund. After design work has started, what has been done is charged for and the rest is refunded. We will tell you which of those two you are in, in writing, before taking either step.
If we cannot deliver, for any reason, you get a full refund without argument.
What each of us is responsible for
Ours: building what was agreed, to the standard the portfolio shows, by the date the clock gives, and telling you promptly when something changes.
Yours: giving us content you have the right to use. Photographs you own or have licensed, text that is yours, and a logo you are entitled to use. We cannot check that for you, and a claim against material you supplied is yours to answer.
Your domain and any accounts in your name stay yours and stay your responsibility, including renewing them. We will tell you what is expiring if we are watching it under a care plan, which Standard and Priority do.
Liability
If something goes wrong and it is our fault, our liability is limited to what you paid us for the work in question. We do not accept liability for lost profits or lost business.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, which includes death or personal injury caused by negligence, and fraud.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. That is true for clients in every market the studio works in.
Changes to these terms
The terms that apply to your project are the ones published on the day you paid. Changing this page does not change an agreement already made. The date at the top says which version you are reading.
